Lake District watercolour artist & my Uncle
I first started attending my uncle’s watercolour classes on Sunday mornings. He was a well-known Lake District artist, T. Leslie Hawkes, and it was he who first recognised my eye for detail.
He played a huge part in shaping my love of painting, and those early lessons still influence my work today. To this day I still miss him.
My mum always said she lived for years with a frustrated artist in my uncle—and now she’s produced one!
