First Blog - A very different Year of Lockdowns

This is the first time doing a blog , so I am not actually sure what goes into them !! The last year or so has been quite different and difficult for everyone. ​I have had to do new things which i had avoided for so long mainly to do with technology.

I started off with small cameras for live demos and then ended up doing zoom classes with a bigger camera thanks to the wonderful Bonny Snowdon. It has been a massive learning curve for me but without youtube tutorials i wouldn't of been able to do it. ​

I started the zoom classes in January after much persuading from Su Melville . I was very nervous at first - not about the teaching but about the technology !!! It was a different way of doing things that's for sure, but the people I had on the zoom class were wonderful and very encouraging. 

As artists we are pretty solitary , we stay in our studios , trying to create our own perfection. Putting yourself out there is very scary. It's been a great way to actually meet people from all over the world and I love it !! We also have our own zoom facebook page which is safe for everyone to post their work and chat. 
Exhibitions also went online which was also strange for me , being old school !! 
The Exhibition of Wildlife Art went online for the first time instead of being at Gordale. Marion and her team had a lot to sort out before it went live. They had great success with it though thanks to her army of followers .

Fingers crossed this year we will have an actual live exhibition !!! 
Work wise i have been busy throughout all of the lockdowns. 
My commissions have remained fully booked for a year which I am so grateful for .
I have also revamped my presentation boxes for the commissions , they are great as a present. 
My Wildlife Art is ongoing, and I have done some pretty large pieces which I love doing. I have updated my camera equipment thanks to Al Milby .

​I have also had my Website updated thanks largely to Paul Calland at Treble3 who came to my rescue in the summer ...A lot to be said for  Art College mates !!! 

I finished 'The Connection' which will hopefully be auctioned in Melbourne Australia next year to raise funds for 'Fighting Extinction' .

Hopefully i can finish 'The Power' soon and get it to its owner....this was sold before i started it !!! 
I am thinking in these blogs I can take people through my painting methods a little. My style comes from my watercolour style which I have adapted into oils unintentionally .

The zoom classes are my painting style , I don't follow any sort of rules i just 'paint' . Life is full of rules so i'm not painting to them lol !!! Progress pics in these blogs will be good . I've been trying out a new lot of different  canvases and different painting surfaces which will be good to write about. 

This is a good way of getting your thoughts down and really thinking about things !!!
